    Shivakumar will become CM when high command decides, says Siddaramaiah

    Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and deputy DK Shivakumar on Tuesday appeared to have set aside their differences as the two met for breakfast at the latter’s residence. Siddaramaiah said that both of them will abide by the decision of the Congress high command on the leadership issue. He added that Shivakumar will become the CM when the high command decides. The development comes days after the two Congress leaders were involved in a public spat over the post of the Karnataka Chief Minister.     Kerala MLA Rahul Mamkootathil faces another sexual assault allegation

    Another woman has come forward claiming that she was sexually assaulted by suspended Congress MLA Rahul Mamkootathil. The woman sent a complaint to the KPCC leadership and the police that she was sexually assaulted by him in 2023. The new allegations surfaced days after the MLA from Palakkad was booked in a rape case in which he was also accused of forcing a woman to terminate her pregnancy. Mamkootathil, who is on the run, was suspended from Congress in August after allegations of sexual misconduct first surfaced against him. Read more

    Cyber criminals using SIR to defraud people, warns Rajasthan police 

    The Rajasthan Police has warned that cybercriminals are using the ongoing Special Intensive Revision to commit fraud. According to an advisory issued by Rajasthan’s Director General of Police Cyber Crime, Sanjay Agarwal, social media and text messages providing “links” to the SIR enumeration form are being used to defraud unsuspecting victims. These messages, according to the police, typically warn that names will be deleted from the voter list unless the form is filled, and then provide a link to the supposed “form.” Once victims click on these links, they are asked for a one-time password (OTP) or a processing fee.     Ranthambore’s Tigress T-2307 is spotted with first litter of three cubs

    Tigress T-2307 has been spotted on a camera trap in the Ranthambore Tiger Reserve with her first litter of three cubs, forest officials confirmed on Monday. The images, shared by Forest Minister Sanjay Sharma on social media, show the cubs — estimated to be between two-and-a-half to three months old — moving alongside their mother. Officials said T-2307, a four-year-old tigress active mostly in the non-tourist area Kundera range, is the offspring of tiger T-121 and tigress T-111. Read more

    VIT Bhopal tried to cover up jaundice outbreak, probe finds

    A probe into the violence in the VIT Bhopal University campus last week has found that the administration attempted to cover up a jaundice outbreak. The probe also found that the administration had turned the campus into a “fortress-like structure”, that there was an “atmosphere of fear-based discipline”, and that the food and water facilities left a lot to be desired. The three-member inquiry committee was constituted by the Madhya Pradesh Private University Regulatory Commission following the violence and arson on November 25, where around 4,000 students went on a rampage on the varsity premises.
