4 killed in stampede at Andhra Pradesh's Tirupati Temple

NEW DELHI: At least four people were killed in a stampede that broke out late Wednesday evening in Andhra Pradesh’s Tirupati temple.
The stampede broke out near Vaikuntha Dwara Darshan ticketing center as hundreds of devotees rushed to get tokens.

Several others who were injured in the stampede were rushed to Sri Venkateswara Ramnarayan Ruia Government General Hospital for treatment.

Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu expressed his deep shock over the death of the devotees, his office said in a statement.
CM Naidu spoke to officials over the phone about the treatment being provided to the injured in the incident. He has also ordered higher officials to go to the scene of the incident and take relief measures to ensure that the injured get better treatment.
Hundreds of devotees turned up from across the country for the 10-day Vaikunta Dwara Darshanam commencing from January 10.
