In a setback to AP CID former chief Sanjay, the Supreme Court dismissed his anticipatory bail. The apex court issued directives dismissing the High Court orders granting the anticipatory bail. The court directed Sanjay to surrender within three weeks. The court also said that the investigating agency can appeal in the magistrate court seeking Sanjay’s custody. The accused can also appeal to in the lower court seeking bail, the court said.
The Andhra Pradesh government filed an FIR against Sanjay in connection with graft in the fire services department. The AP government challenged the High Court verdict in the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court expressed dismay over the 49-page verdict granting bail to Sanjay. It seems that the trial has been completed during the anticipatory bail stage itself, the SC bench said.
The verdict mentioned that 350 people attended every session and the apex court wondered how was it possible that all the people attended the sessions, without at least one or two persons failing to attend the sessions.
Rs 2 crore Funds Misused
To issue No Objection Certificates (NOCs) online, the fire services department gave the contract of developing Agni-NOC website, a mobile app and supply of 150 tabs to Soutrika Technologies And Infra. Under Sanjay’s tenure, the department paid Rs 59.93 lakh bill without any works done. On behalf of the CID, the contract of conducting awareness camps for Dalits and Girijans on the the SC, ST Atrocity Act was given to Kritvyap Technologies and Rs 1.19 crore was paid to the organization, even when the camps were held by the CID officials themselves.
The payment was made to Kritvyap even when it did not organize any camps. The Vigilance and Enforcement wing submitted two separate reports stating that due to the above activities over Rs 2 crore loss was registered in the treasury wing. The ACB filed a case basing on these allegations.
