Public-sector banks (PSBs) and private banking institutions will be closed today, on Thursday, August 28, on account of the Nuakhai and Ganesh Chaturthi second day, as designated by the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) 2025 holiday calendar.
Determined by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) under the Negotiable Instruments Act, bank holidays in India include RTGS holidays, as well as other regional and national holidays, in addition to the mandatory weekly days off on the second Saturday and Sunday of each month.
This is the final bank holiday of August, as the month comes to a close. According to the RBI calendar for 2025, August has a total of 15 bank holidays.
