Bharat Rashtra Samithi working president K.T. Rama Rao said his party would continue to fight against the State government’s anti-people policies taking inspiration from those who laid down their lives for the integration of Hyderabad State with the Indian Union.

Along with senior party leaders, Mr. Rama Rao participated in the ‘National Integration Day’ celebrations at Telangana Bhavan on Wednesday.

Addressing the gathering after unfurling the national flag, Mr. Rama Rao said, “This is the day when the people of Telangana transitioned from a monarchy to a democratic system. While some call it liberation, others call it a merger, but thousands of people fought against the monarchy and sacrificed their lives. On behalf of our party, we bow our heads and pay tribute to all the fighters and martyrs.”

Mr. Rama Rao added, “Telangana is a land of sacrifices and struggles. From the armed peasant struggle to the 1969 Telangana movement and the democratic Telangana movement under former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao’s leadership, Telangana has witnessed the fights. Telangana has produced great fighters like Chakali Ailamma, Sheikh Bandagi and Ravi Narayana Reddy. We will continue to fight under KCR’s leadership to bring about a welfare and developmental state in Telangana once again.”

Meanwhile, Telangana Jagruthi celebrated ‘Telangana Merger Day’. President Kalvakuntla Kavitha unfurled the national flag at their office in Banjara Hills and paid tributes to Telangana armed peasant struggle fighters.

Criticising the BJP for celebrating September 17 as ‘Liberation Day’, she said, “September 17 is Telangana Merger Day. The BJP is organizing programmes against the federal spirit by calling it ‘Liberation Day’. It is distorting the history of Telangana and inciting religious hatred. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy should write a letter to the Centre asking them to stop such programmes in the State.”
