‘Brutal crime’: Putin condemns Pahalgam attack, reaffirms support to India in ‘fighting terrorism’ | India News

Russian President Vladimir Putin extended condolences to President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi after the terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, claimed 26 lives.

In his message, Putin said the attack, which claimed the lives of civilians from various countries, was a “brutal crime” with “no justification whatsoever.” He expressed hope that the perpetrators “will face a deserved punishment” and reiterated Russia’s commitment to strengthen cooperation with India “in fighting terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.”

The attack, which claimed at least 26 lives and injured several others, triggered an outpouring of grief and outrage on Tuesday.

The Embassy of Ukraine in India also expressed deep concern over the attack. In a statement, the embassy condemned the attack, adding that Ukraine, which endures the loss of life from terrorism daily, stands firmly against all forms of terrorism.

“When innocent people are murdered, it brings unbearable pain,” the statement said, stressing that those responsible for this heinous act should be held accountable.

This is the first terror attack on tourists this year. The last time terrorists attacked tourists was in May, last year, when two tourists were injured. That incident also took place in Pahalgam.
