The City Police have arrested four persons from Andhra Pradesh and are searching for four more persons for cheating private banks by submitting fake salary documents to the tune of more than ₹2.50 crore. The four persons were supposed to be daily wage earners but had submitted fake documents showing high salaries and took personal loans and failed to repay the loans.
A senior official of the City police said a complaint was filed by Divyan Kumar, who works as a manager of a private bank branch in Aminjikarai, had filed a complaint to the Chennai Police Commissioner’s office stating cheated by giving fake salary slips and claiming to be working as software engineers in an information technology consulting company of more than ₹1 crore.
Based on the complaint the Central Crime Branch filed a case and during investigation found a total of eight persons were involved in the fraud including two persons working for a consultancy firm of the banks for distributing personal loans.
The police official said Venkatesh and Harsha, who work in the personal loan department of the bank through the consultancy firms Aadifidelis solutions and Shirdi Management Services. Both these persons through six persons of which four were daily wage labourers from Chittoor comprising Ekambaram (27), Keshav Gangaraj (25), Krishnamoorthy (24), Kumar (29) and Nagaraju (27) and Manikandan Gopal (28) from Vellore, created fake documents of drawing high salary by working as software engineers in a private information technology park and took personal loans of ₹2.47 crore. For this fraud a six persons stayed in a rented accommodation in Chennai. After getting the various amounts as loans they failed to pay the amount and ‘vacated’ their rented premises.
A police team of the CCB arrested four persons including Ekambaram, Keshav Gangaraj, Kumar and Krishnamoorthy from Chittoor in AP. The investigation revealed that Harsha and Venkatesh were the brain behind in preparing the fake documents for daily wage workers from Andhra Pradesh and temporarily rented them a house in the city to get loans from a private bank. The investigation also found that the IT company they claimed to have worked for was not located in the IT park in Ramapuram.
The police are on the look out for Nagaraju, Manikandan Gopal, Venkatesh and Harsha in connection with the crime.
