Thiruvananthapuram: Madhu Mullasseri, the former CPM Mangalapuram area secretary in Thiruvananthapuram District, joined the BJP shortly after his expulsion from the party on Tuesday.
Madhu Mullasseri left the CPM’s conference recently after failing to secure a third term as area secretary.
CPM district secretary V Joy said Madhu was expelled from the primary membership for acting against the party’s principles. The expelled leader had also insulted the district secretary through his recent public statements.
He said Madhu had been in contact with BJP leaders while still a member of the CPM. The CPM intends to pursue legal action against him for financial misconduct, he said.
Union Minister Suresh Gopi and former Union Minister V Muraleedharan visited Mullasseri’s house and welcomed him into the BJP.
Meanwhile, CPM leaders including former minister Kadakampally Surendran and former district secretary Anavoor Nagappan said Madhu’s expulsion is not going to have any impact on the party.
