Hyderabad: Chief Secretary K. Ramakrishna Rao has directed officials to prepare plans for the development of Pushkar ghats, road expansion and pilgrim facilities for the Godavari Pushkaralu scheduled in July 2027.
Reviewing arrangements with senior officials at the Secretariat, the CS asked departments to finalise action plans quickly and submit detailed proposals for execution. Officials informed him that 74 Pushkar ghats have been identified at 69 locations along the Godavari river stretch, with development works to be taken up in phases.
The CS also reviewed renovation works in major temples under the endowments department, including Yadadri Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple, Vemulawada Sri Rajarajeshwara Swamy temple and Dharmapuri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy temple. He assessed pilgrim facilities such as sanitation, security, prasadam distribution and transport connectivity. Special focus was laid on crowd management, queue systems, parking, drinking water supply and toilet maintenance at high-footfall temples, with instructions to further upgrade amenities and cleanliness standards.
The review further covered Bhu Bharati land records management, farmer services, land surveys, construction of sub-registrar office buildings, e-filing systems, empanelment of licensed surveyors and progress linked to the state’s Telangana Rising 2047 vision goals.
Departments of tourism, culture, youth services and sports presented status reports on ongoing schemes and development of tourist destinations. The CS called for training programmes to build a larger pool of international-level sportspersons by the 2036 Olympics.
He also reviewed progress of road works, government building projects and quality standards, particularly in rural and urban link corridors. Officials were instructed to complete hospital and major public building projects within deadlines. Transport department services, including vehicle registration, driving licence issuance and road safety enforcement, were taken up, with directions to improve transparency and accident prevention measures.
The panchayat raj and rural development departments were asked to ensure effective delivery of drinking water, sanitation, rural roads and employment schemes, and to prevent summer water scarcity through advance planning.
