The 4K re-release of Prabhas’ Darling, which originally came out in 2010, has taken the box office by storm, grossing approximately Rs 7.9 crore worldwide on its first day, April 23, making it the highest Telugu re-release opening after Baahubali: The Epic.

In fact, the re-released Darling shows better collections than the box office figures for Prabhas’ fresh releases in recent years.

This seems to back what Prabhas watchers have been saying for some time: His superstardom is not dented. It is his story sense which has taken a beating.

After the debacle of The Rajasaab, Prabhas has stopped signing films. Hanu Raghavapudi’s Fauzi, Sandeep Vanga’s Spirit and Nag Ashwin’s Kalki are commitments he made before the release of The Rajasaab. He is determined to start the next project only when he is fully satisfied with the script.
