Producer Dil Raju has received relief from the Supreme Court in a copyright case concerning his 2011 film Mr. Perfect. The apex court has put a stay on the City Civil Court’s directive to take action against him.
The case dates back to 2017 when writer Mummudi Syamala Devi accused Dil Raju of plagiarizing her novel Naa Manasu Ninnu Kore for Mr. Perfect. Following her complaint, the Madhapur Police registered a copyright case. After hearing arguments and reviewing evidence, the City Civil Court ruled in favor of action against the producer.
Seeking to overturn this decision, Dil Raju approached the Supreme Court. On Monday, a bench comprising Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice R Mahadevan heard the case and granted a stay on the Civil Court’s orders. The next hearing has been scheduled for two weeks later.
Mr. Perfect, directed by Dasarath, stars Prabhas, Kajal Aggarwal, and Taapsee Pannu in lead roles, with music composed by Devi Sri Prasad.
