TIRUPATI: The Chittoor district administration has made elaborate arrangements at the Sri Kanipakam Varasiddhi Vinayaka Swamy Temple in view of Vaikunta Ekadasi, Dwadasi and New Year celebrations scheduled for December 30, December 31 and January 1.

District collector Sumith Kumar said priority would be given to ensuring smooth and satisfactory darshan for common devotees during the three peak days. He reviewed the arrangements at a meeting held at the temple premises on Saturday along with SP Tushar Dudi, MLA K. Murali Mohan, temple executive officer Penchala Kishore, temple chairman Mani Naidu and other officials.

Addressing the meeting, the collector said more than 60,000 devotees were expected to visit the temple over the three days, particularly on January 1. He instructed officials to strengthen queue lines inside and outside the temple to prevent congestion and ensure hassle-free darshan.

The APSRTC has been asked to operate additional buses, while power department officials were directed to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply, decorative lighting and standby generators. Health officials were instructed to set up first-aid centres, and fire services will keep fire engines on standby. To facilitate crowd management, arjitha sevas and Antaralaya darshan will be cancelled on January 1.

The SP said elaborate security arrangements would be put in place under the supervision of the Chittoor DSP. More than 200 police personnel will be deployed, with special focus on traffic regulation and parking management. A joint command and control room will function to coordinate security and traffic monitoring.

MLA Murali Mohan said arrangements were being made based on past experience, as the number of devotees is expected to be higher this year due to Vaikunta Ekadasi and consecutive holidays. He said darshan would be allowed from 2 am to 4 pm through multiple entry points, and common devotees would be permitted darshan up to 11 pm on January 1.
