Hyderabad: HYDRAA commissioner A.V. Ranganath has warned that any obstructions or encroachments on roads, especially in layouts and residential areas, must be removed immediately. Else, HYDRAA will step in and clear them.

Ranganath said HYDRAA was keeping a close watch on the situation. He said that land meant for public use, like parks, schools, hospitals, libraries and community halls must be used only for those purposes. Anyone who grabs such land will face strict action.

On Monday, Prajavani received 52 complaints related to HYDRAA. Many of these were regarding illegal construction, walls blocking roads and encroachment on government land. Some said land-grabbers were using fake plot numbers to take over land meant for public use.

Ranganath ordered officials to immediately investigate these issues and remove any illegal structures. Some citizens also complained that they were being denied building permissions near lakes due to full tank level rules, even though houses exist nearby. The commissioner said that the FTL marking process will be completed soon.

Some of the complaints received include one in Bowrampet (Medchal-Malkajgiri) where a former public representative allegedly built a guest house on 25 guntas of government land and encroached on 36 more guntas in another survey number. Another complaint noted that in Ferozguda, Balanagar, park land in Madhavinagar had been taken over. Even after a court order, construction is continuing. Locals urged HYDRA to acquire 300 sq. yards for park development.

Complaints were also received from Shamirpet mandal and Rajendranagar. A resident of the area near Saroornagar lake said his plot was surrounded by houses but he was not allowed to build due to FTL rules. In Raviryal (Pedda Cheruvu), several people said their plots were getting submerged due to rising water levels.
