Celebrating 14 years of dedicated healthcare, Fernandez Hospital, Hyderguda, in collaboration with the Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Society (TSCS), hosted a blood donation drive on Wednesday. The event aimed to address the critical need for blood supplies, particularly for patients battling chronic conditions like thalassemia and sickle cell disease.

The drive received an overwhelming response, with over 100 donors stepping forward, including hospital staff, TSCS members, patients’ families, and community volunteers. This collective effort underscored the importance of community involvement in addressing healthcare challenges. Dr. Tejaswini Kushnoor, Associate Director, Administration & Operations, Fernandez Foundation, thanked the donors, saying, “Every unit of blood donated is a lifeline for patients.

This remarkable turnout reflects our community’s shared commitment to saving lives.” Mr. Aleem Baig, Joint Secretary of TSCS, highlighted the critical role of such initiatives, stating, “For patients with chronic blood disorders, regular blood donations are essential. Partnering with Fernandez Foundation enables us to make a tangible difference in their lives.”

The event successfully collected 100 units of blood, which will directly benefit patients reliant on transfusions, particularly those under TSCS’s care. Volunteers from both organisations ensured a smooth process for donors, while attendees were educated on the significance of regular blood donations.

This anniversary event not only celebrated Fernandez Hospital’s 14 years of service but also reaffirmed its commitment to community welfare. By organising such impactful initiatives, the hospital continues to extend its support beyond clinical care, fostering a culture of compassion and collective responsibility.
