A fire broke out at the stockyard of Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited near Rayapudi in the Amaravati capital region on late Monday night (March 23, 2026). The Guntur district police launched a high-level inquiry into the incident on Tuesday (March 24).
According to officials, the fire broke out around 11 p.m. at the yard located near the new HoD towers under the jurisdiction of Tulluru Police Station. Large quantities plastic (PLB) pipes that were stored were gutted in the blaze, with at least 22 lots reportedly destroyed.
Superintendent of Police Vakul Jindal rushed to the spot on Monday night to review the firefighting operations and instructed personnel to bring the flames under control without delay. He revisited the site on Tuesday, accompanied by senior officers, including Additional SP A.T.V. Ramana Kumar, to assess the situation and examine evidences and cause of the fire.

Police teams, along with RFSL and FSL experts, inspected the affected area and began collecting technical and physical evidence. The CCTV footage is being analysed, and investigators have been asked to explore all angles, including accidental causes and possible foul play.
The SP instructed officials to thoroughly examine safety standards at the stockyard and identify any lapses. He emphasised that those responsible, if any, would face stringent action following the investigation.
