J. Balavenkatasubramanian, senior consultant anaesthesiologist at the Ganga Medical Centre and Hospital in Coimbatore, has been appointed Chairman of the World Federation of Society of Anaesthesiologists Acute Care Action Network. The Acute Care Action Network is an initiative of the World Health Organisation focused on evolving global strategies for universal access to high-quality emergency care through integrated pathways. Dr Balavenkatasubramanian is also serving as the national president of the Indian Society of Anaesthesiologists, which has nearly 50,000 anaesthesiologists as members, and secretary to the World Federation of Society of Anaesthesiologists headquartered in London.
