Hassan District Planters’ Association has said that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s proposal to increase the ex gratia payment for victims of wild animal attacks in his Budget was insufficient.
A.S. Paramesh, president of the association, and K.B. Lohith, the secretary, in a press release, stated that the association had demanded the State government increase the ex gratia amount from ₹15 lakh to ₹50 lakh. However, the CM in his Budget proposed to increase it to ₹20 lakh.
Further, the association demanded the government consider the ongoing human-elephant conflict seriously and find a permanent solution to the problem.
