Hyderabad: The higher demand for liquor in Telangana is prompting applicants to file more applications for A4 shops. The deadline for applications for new outlets will end on October 18.
According to Prohibition and Excise officials, liquor sales in the state rose to Rs 3,048 crore in September 2025 during the festival season, as against Rs 2,838 crore in September 2024, resulting in a seven per cent growth.
The officials further said that this sales trend would also encourage applicants by giving a big boost to their interest in applying for more outlets.
In September 2024, at least 28.81 lakh cases of IML liquor were sold. In 2025, as many as 29.92 lakh cases of liquor were sold. In 2024, 39.71 lakh cases of beer were sold, while in 2025, 36.46 lakh cases of beer were sold. In 2025, on September 29, sales amounted to Rs 278 crore; on September 30, Rs 333 crore; and on October 1, Rs 86.23 crore.
During these three festival days, sales went up by at least 80 per cent.
