The Indian national anthem “Jana Gana Mana” was mistakenly played in Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore instead of the Australian national anthem ahead of the Champions Trophy 2025 match between Australia and England.
A line from the Indian national anthem was played after England’s national anthem ended. It was rectified, but the video of the blunder has gone viral on social media.
Interestingly, this incident took place one day ahead of the India-Pakistan Champions Trophy match, and the national anthem was played in Lahore, Pakistan, where India will not be playing any of their Champions Trophy games. India will be playing all their matches in Dubai following the hybrid model.
The “men in blue” will be playing against Pakistan on Sunday. Team India is just a win away from sealing their semifinal spot after their 6-wicket win over Bangladesh in the opener.
Pakistan, on the other hand, will look to secure victory against India to avoid an early exit from the tournament after they were defeated by New Zealand by 60 runs in the Champions Trophy opening match.
The match will start at 2:30 p.m. IST.
