Vijayawada: Former chief minister and YSR Congress president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday assured Inturi Sujana, wife of the arrested social media activist Ravi Kiran, that the party will stand by their family. Speaking to media persons here later, Sujana recalled that police had taken her husband into custody on October 21. She said since then, he is being harassed by police.
She charged that police officials are ill-treating Ravi Kiran and moving him from one police station to another. She alleged that they have even taken her husband’s signature and thumb impression on blank papers. She pointed out that Ravi Kiran has been implicated in nine cases.
In a related development, a team of YSR Congress leaders, including Ambati Rambabu and Perni Nani, visited Guntur jail to extend moral support to their party’s social media activists M. Venkatrami Reddy, H. Harikrishna Reddy and P. Chaitanya. They said police have taken these activists into custody at the behest of TDP leaders.
