Jana Chaitanya Vedika State president and retired teacher Bakuru Joginaidu on Friday urged the Minister for Education Nara Lokesh to reintroduce Telugu medium in government schools since the students would be able to understand lessons and gain knowledge only when the lessons were taught in mother tongue.
He stated in a release that English medium cannot ensure education and it was only a myth while referring to large scale unemployment in the country.
He charged the previous YSRCP government for stopping Telugu medium in the government schools in spite of the strong objection from teachers and parents.
Mr. Joginaidu said that the Centre in the year 1956 had clearly stated that primary education must be in mother tongue for the overall development of the students. He said that JCV would submit a petition to Mr. Lokesh who is scheduled to interact with students in Vizianagaram on Saturday.
