Tech giant Meta might introduce AI bots on its social media platforms Facebook and Instagram.
According to a report by Financial Times, the tech giant is integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its social media platforms. Meta has already introduced AI features to the platforms, and now the social media giant is planning for AI-powered user accounts.
“We expect these AIs to actually, over time, exist on our platforms, kind of in the same way that accounts do,” Connor Hayes, vice-president of product for generative AI at Meta, told the publication.
Connor said that the AI bots will have bios, profiles like ours, and will be able to generate and also share content. “They’ll have bios and profile pictures and be able to generate and share content powered by AI on the platform,” he added.
Meta has been turning to AI in order to increase user engagement. In July 2024, Meta introduced a new tool called AI Studio that will allow users to create, share, and design personalized AI chatbots. The company also launched an AI tool called “Movie Gen” that can create a new video up to 16 seconds with just a text prompt and up to 45 seconds of audio.
