Hyderabad: In a vibrant cultural showcase, contestants of Miss World 2025 – Group 2 are set to visit the world-renowned handloom village of Pochampally on May 15. This exclusive event will shine a global spotlight on one of India’s most celebrated textile traditions the Pochampally Ikat.
Pochampally, located in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district, is acclaimed internationally for its intricate ikat weaving techniques. Recognized by UNESCO as the “Best Tourism Village of the World”, it is a living museum of craftsmanship, culture, and heritage.
Miss World contestants will experience the ikkat flavour, traditional tie-and-dye process, interact with master weavers, and witness the making of the iconic Telia Rumal, a double ikat masterpiece once favored by the Nizams of Hyderabad.
The village, which played a historic role in the Bhoodan movement led by Acharya Vinoba Bhave, offers a rare blend of textile artistry and socio-cultural legacy.
This prestigious visit will place Telangana’s rich handloom heritage on the global map, as the Miss World platform offers unprecedented international visibility. By showcasing the vibrant weaves, rural craftsmanship, and cultural depth of Pochampally, the event becomes a powerful celebration of India’s living traditions to a worldwide audience.
As anticipation builds for the grand finale of Miss World in Hyderabad later this month, the Pochampally visit promises to be a highlight—where beauty meets heritage, and the loom tells the story of Telangana to the world.
