Alleging that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has rolled out his “vicious plan” of usurping civic bodies where the TDP has no numbers, YSRCP president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has said “rampant corruption, nepotism and atrocities” have become the order of the day in the State.
Addressing the local body and party representatives from Kakinada, Chittoor, Prakasam and Sri Sathya Sai districts, at the party office on Thursday, Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy alleged that Mr. Naidu had shown the “template of usurping power” without having the required numbers from his Kuppam constituency by “coercion, inducement and threats.”
“Mr. Naidu has also given away lands at throwaway prices to his favoured few such as Ursa and LuLu group. All the welfare schemes the YSRCP government had launched were either stopped or diluted,” he said.
“Days will change, and in ‘Jagan 2.0’, things will be different. I salute all those who stood for value-based politics and did not yield to the enticements of TDP,” he said.
Citing Kuppam as an example, he said the YSRCP won 16 of the 25 seats in the municipality, leaving 6 to the TDP. “Mr. Naidu began his foul play from here, taking away our candidates using all sorts of threats and enticements, besides misusing the police force, giving wrong signals to other local bodies to follow suit,” Mr. Jagan Mohan Reddy alleged.
“Winning and losing are common in elections, but what is important is whether you won the hearts of people or not,” he said.
The TDP tried the same template for the Gndlapenta MPP though YSRCP won six out of seven MPTC posts. In Markapuram, the YSRCP swept all the 15 seats and did not yield to the TDP pressure. In Kakinada as well, we won 26 of the 30 seats, he said.
