Nalgonda fisheries officer trapped accepting bribe

The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday, September 4 arrested M. Charitha Reddy, Assistant Officer and District Fisheries Officer at the Nalgonda Collectorate, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of ₹20,000.

According to ACB officials, the officer sought the amount from a complainant in exchange for granting approval to enlist new members into the complainant’s Fisheries Co-operative Society. The bribe money was recovered from the officer’s handbag.

She was arrested and produced before the special court for SPE and ACB cases in Nampally, Hyderabad. Further investigation is underway.

The ACB has urged the public to report any demands for bribes by contacting the toll-free number 1064 or through WhatsApp at 9440446106. Complaints can also be made via Facebook (Telangana ACB) and X (@TelanganaACB), with assurances that complainant identities will remain confidential.
