The Namakkal District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (DCDRC) directed e-commerce company Amazon and a private company for delivering the wrong product to a customer on Tuesday.

K. Saravanakumar (36), a resident of R.P. Pudur in Namakkal, ordered a mobile phone on Amazon, which shows a private company in Palladam will send the mobile phone. He paid ₹24,519 through this credit card in December 2021. He received a parcel through a courier, and found a perfume bottle instead of a mobile phone. He lodged a complaint through e-mail and also through customer service. But the mobile was not sent to him, and instead of that, his account was allegedly deleted.

Following this, in June this year, he filed a case at the Namakkal DCDRC. Investigating the case, the DCDRC Commissioner V. Ramaraj on Tuesday directed Amazon and the private company to pay ₹24,519 paid by the petitioner along with ₹20,000 as compensation for mental agony within four weeks.
