Nellore/Ongole: With Cyclone Montha nearing the Andhra coast, the administrations of Nellore and Prakasam districts have been placed on high alert and round-the-clock control rooms activated to assist the public.
In Nellore, special officer Dr N. Yuvraj, along with district collector Himanshu Shukla, inspected the control room set up at the Collectorate’s Tikkana Hall on Monday. Dr Yuvraj directed staff to respond promptly to all public calls, understand complaints in detail, and alert the concerned officials without delay.
The collector said 24-hour control rooms have been established at the Collectorate and in the Kandukur, Nellore, Kavali, and Atmakur revenue divisions. Citizens can contact these centres for cyclone-related assistance.
In Prakasam district, collector P. Rajababu and joint collector R. Gopal Krishna reviewed the cyclone control arrangements at the Ongole Collectorate. The collector instructed officials to remain vigilant, coordinate across departments, and monitor field-level updates to ensure swift response.
A toll-free number (1077) has been set up at the Ongole Collectorate, with additional control rooms functioning across the district.
Officials urged the public to remain indoors during heavy winds and rain, and to contact the nearest control room for emergency assistance.
