Pakistan resorted to firing all along the Line of Control (LoC) — from Kupwara and Baramulla in Kashmir to the plains of Akhnoor in Jammu — for the second time late Sunday, said the Indian Army.

“During the night of 04-05 May 2025, Pakistan Army posts resorted to unprovoked small arms fire across the LoC in areas opposite Kupwara, Baramulla, Poonch, Rajouri, Mendhar, Naushera, Sunderbani, and Akhnoor in J&K,” said Lieutenant Colonel Suneel Bartwal, PRO (Defence) Northern Command, here.

Lieutenant Colonel Bartwal added that the Indian Army responded “promptly and proportionately”.

On Sunday, Indian Air Force chief Air Chief Marshal A P Singh met Prime Minister Narendra Modi to brief him on the overall preparedness of the IAF. Air Chief Marshal Singh and PM Modi were said to have discussed the security scenario and the options on the table following the Pahalgam terror attack of April 22.

Hours before their meeting, Indian Navy chief Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi also spoke to the Prime Minister on the situation in the northern Arabian Sea.

Festive offer

Pakistani troops have been resorting to firing on the Indian side along the LoC during the night for more than 10 days since India suspended the Indus Water Treaty. However, the firing from the Pakistani side, which had earlier taken place in two or three sectors, has spread all along the LoC since Saturday night.

So far, there have been no reports of any damage on the Indian side because of the Pakistani firing.
