Vijayawada: State agriculture director Dilli Rao has directed agriculture, horticulture and sericulture officials to expedite crop registration on the ‘e-crop’ platform and complete the process by September 30.
He held a review meeting with district-level officials from agriculture and allied departments through teleconference on Saturday. Speaking on the occasion, he said that out of a total 2.61 crore land parcels, only 2.10 lakh (8 per cent) had been registered so far. He underscored the need to prioritise e-crop registration as the data would help in planning and implementing agriculture-related financial, welfare and development schemes at both central and state levels. He also called for the registration of non-agricultural and fallow lands.
The director instructed officials to complete the download of 11 per cent of land parcels as only 89 per cent had been completed so far.
Meanwhile, horticulture director K. Srinivasulu said that out of 40 lakh acres of horticulture crops, only six lakh acres had been registered under e-crop so far, and directed officials to speed up the process.
Further, Rao reiterated the importance of obtaining complete e-crop data to deal with challenges such as onion price issues in Kurnool district, mango (Totapuri) in Chittoor district, burley tobacco prices in Prakasam district, and the assessment of crop damage caused by heavy rains last week.
