Karimnagar: In order to avoid inconvenience in travelling to their native places from across the country, the government launched bus services from Vemulawada to Mumbai for the people of Telangana living in Mumbai, said transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar.
Along with government chief whip and MLA Aadi Srinivas, libraries department chairman Nagula Satyanarayana Goud and collector Sandeep Kumar Jha and officials of RTC, the minister launched two RTC Lahari AC bus services at Vemulawada in Rajanna Sircilla district on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, Prabhakar said that a month ago, when MLA Srinivas visited Mumbai, he held a meeting with the local Telugu community, following their requests to run RTC bus services from Vemulawada to Mumbai as they were facing travel difficulties to reach their native places, Srinivas brought the issue to his notice.
Responding immediately to strengthen connectivity with the Telugu people living in Mumbai, the state government decided to operate bus services under the supervision of the TGRTC from Vemulawada to Mumbai.
These buses will be operated along the route covering Chandurthi, Rudrangi, Korutla and Metpally via Nizamabad eventually reaching Mumbai. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy praised the initiative and suggested expanding services as needed.
Additionally, direct bus services from Vemulawada to Hyderabad and to spiritual centers across the state are planned.
The Minister said that in the coming days, bus services will be operated from Vemulawada to Hyderabad directly and also to all the spiritual centres and temples present across the state.
Under the leadership of CM Revanth Reddy, the people’s government is actively working to improve public transport. In part of it, the government introduced the Maha Lakshmi Scheme for women and is providing free bus travel.
He appreciated the officials of RTC, drivers and conductors who are working with full commitment to make the scheme run successfully and for contributing significantly to the success of the scheme.
Very soon, RTC is going to purchase new buses and is going to conduct new recruitments. The government is working for the welfare of the RTC and its staff members, he added.
The minister expressed warm wishes to the Telugu people residing in Mumbai and to the local residents who are going to benefit from the newly launched bus services.
