The All Women Police Station at Abiramapuram on Friday (March 27, 2026) arrested a senior professor of Anna University’s Industrial Engineering Department on a complaint of sexual harassment filed by a final-year undergraduate student. The professor has been suspended by the university administration.

The complainant, residing at the university hostel, said the professor,  Gnanavel Babu, subjected her to sustained sexual harassment over the past three years, both in person and through obscene messages.
