Hyderabad: Speculation is rife on social media that AICC leader Rahul Gandhi may attend the exhibition football match in Hyderabad, which will feature Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and global icon Lionel Messi. The buzz began after a post by Congress supporter Vijaypal Reddy, which was quickly shared online, claimed that Rahul Gandhi would be present for the event, informally dubbed the “Revanth vs. Messi” match.
However, the claim remains unconfirmed, as neither the Congress party nor the event organisers have released an official statement. This speculation is supported by earlier reports indicating that Revanth Reddy had personally invited both Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi during his recent trip to Delhi.
Scheduled for Saturday, December 13, at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Uppal, the match is part of the “GOAT India Tour 2025.” Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has clarified that while the state government is providing logistical support due to Messi’s global stature, the event is being organised by a private entity, and the government is not directly hosting it.
