The Revenue department has decided to expedite the procedures for sanctioning a special office to issue title deeds as part of the Bhoorahitarillatha Punalur project.
The decision was taken at a meeting held in the presence of Revenue Minister K. Rajan and Punalur MLA P.S. Supal in Thiruvananthapuram on Monday. At present steps are under way to provide title deeds to all eligible landowners in the constituency, build houses for everyone from the landless list, and to identify, acquire, and allocate revenue land. A special unit headed by a tahsildar is being formed to complete the task of issuing title deeds in a time-bound manner.
The meeting also discussed various issues in the constituency that need to be considered for conducting a special adalat and taking further action. The land transfer for the establishment of a naturopathy treatment centre and yoga centre under the Department of Indian Systems of Medicine at Punalur is in its final stage. Efforts will be expedited to transfer ownership of the land where the RO Junction shopping complex is located to the Anchal grama panchayat. Steps will also be completed on a priority basis to register the puramboke land where the Kerala State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) depot is located in Punalur village in the name of the KSRTC.
According to officials concerned, the joint and separate inspections as part of the follow-up procedures for the Arippa land title deed distribution have been completed. Revenue Minister K. Rajan instructed to expedite the settlement of issues, including the title deed problem of those residing on both sides of the railway line and canal poramboke. The meeting also reviewed the progress of procedures for distributing Thenmala and Maravettithadam title deeds in Punalur taluk at the Kollam district-level title deed adalat in 2025. Land Revenue Commissioner A. Kausigan, Kollam District Collector N. Devidas, and officials from the Land Revenue Commissionerate, collectorate, and Punalur taluk attended the meeting.
