A 14-year-old student sustained serious injuries in an attack allegedly carried out by a group of 15 students at Government High School, Puthuppadi, on Tuesday (June 3, 2025).
Parents of the injured student alleged that the school authorities attempted to cover up the incident and delayed providing medical assistance. The Thamarassery police have launched an investigation into the incident.
Police sources said they submitted a preliminary report to the Juvenile Justice Board. The high school student sustained injuries to his head and eyes, they added.
Meanwhile, the school authorities suspended four students suspected to be involved in the incident. They also claimed that there had been no attempt to cover up the incident or delay medical intervention for the injured boy.
It was on March 1 that another minor student, Mohammed Shahabaz from Thamarassery, succumbed to severe head injuries sustained during a clash between students at Thamarassery. The fatal assault reportedly stemmed from a minor argument between students of two schools who used to gather for tuition at a local training centre in the area. Six students had been arrested in connection with the incident.
