Tata Nexon EV crosses 1 lakh sales milestone
Back in December 2025, the Nexon EV crossed an important milestone of 1 lakh sales. When the Nexon EV arrived in 2020, India’s electric vehicle market was still finding its feet. At the time, EVs were widely perceived as niche products, often questioned for their limited usable range, higher upfront costs compared to conventional cars, and the absence of dependable charging infrastructure. Tata Motors tackled these barriers directly by delivering a practical driving range, competitive pricing, and strong warranty support, helping customers overcome early doubts around electric mobility.
Over the years, the Nexon EV has seen consistent upgrades. The original model offered a claimed range of roughly 230 km, while the latest versions now deliver up to 375 km under the C75 test cycle. Warranty coverage has also become more comprehensive, evolving from an eight-year or 1.6 lakh km battery warranty to lifetime battery coverage on newer variants. Coupled with a growing charging network, these improvements have driven a sharp rise in demand, with monthly sales increasing from about 300 units in the initial phase to nearly 3,000 units today.
Reaching the 1 lakh sales mark also highlights Tata Motors’ broader strategy of creating a full-scale EV ecosystem rather than focusing only on vehicle sales. The company has expanded its EV sales and service presence to over 1,200 outlets across more than 1,000 cities and towns, supported by a workforce of over 5,000 trained EV technicians. Charging solutions now include home installations, community chargers, verified public charging points, and fast-charging mega hubs, significantly improving day-to-day ownership convenience.
As per company data, Tata’s electric vehicles have collectively covered close to 12 billion kilometres, leading to a meaningful reduction in carbon dioxide emissions. Within this expanding EV lineup, the Nexon EV continues to play a central role, contributing over 1 lakh units to total sales and firmly establishing itself as the cornerstone of Tata’s electric passenger vehicle portfolio.
