A social media post on a Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) employee who was forced to sleep on the footpath of the company’s Pune office has gone viral. The photos of the employee with a handwritten note mentioning salary dues have triggered widespread public attention.

The post, originally shared by the social media handle Being Punekar Official, shows the handwritten note in which the employee, identified as Saurabh More, alleged that he was forced to live on the footpath due to non-payment of salary for four months.

According to the note, the employee returned to work on July 29, 2025, but found his employee ID and access to internal systems such as Ultimatix deactivated. Despite repeated assurances from the company’s Human Resources department that More’s dues would be cleared by July 31, no payment was made.

“I have informed HR I don’t have money and will be forced to sleep and live outside TCS on the footpath. HR has not responded to that and kept quiet. Hence, I am living on the footpath since July 29 in front of TCS,” the letter read.

The post, originally shared by the social media handle Being Punekar Official, triggered widespread public attention, with bystanders and netizens expressing concern.

Meanwhile, following the backlash, TCS issued a statement to Hindustan Times, acknowledging the situation and confirming that the company is in contact with the employee. The company stated that More’s payroll had been suspended due to a period of “unauthorized absence,” in accordance with internal policy.

“This is a case of unauthorized absence. In accordance with standard procedure, payroll was suspended during that period. The employee has now reported back and requested reinstatement,” according to the company’s statement.

The company added that temporary accommodation has now been arranged for More, who is no longer staying outside the office. “We are supporting him to resolve the issue in a fair and constructive manner,” the spokesperson added.
