'Terrorism in any form unacceptable': PM Modi calls his 'friend' Netanyahu; congratulates Israeli PM on Gaza peace plan progress

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday called Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu to congratulate him on the implementation of Gaza peace plan. “Called my friend, Prime Minister Netanyahu, to congratulate him on the progress made under President Trump’s Gaza peace plan. We welcome the agreement on the release of hostages and enhanced humanitarian assistance to the people of Gaza. Reaffirmed that terrorism in any form or manifestation is unacceptable anywhere in the world,” he said in a post on X.Before this, PM had also revealed that he also spoke to US President Donald Trump regarding Gaza peace plan. “Spoke to my friend, President Trump and congratulated him on the success of the historic Gaza peace plan. Also reviewed the good progress achieved in trade negotiations. Agreed to stay in close touch over the coming weeks,” he said.This development follows the hostage-ceasefire agreement with Israel accepted by Hamas . The group stated that the exchange of hostages and Palestinian prisoners would begin within 72 hours of the deal’s implementation.Under the first phase of the agreement to end the war in Gaza, Hamas said it would release 20 surviving hostages in exchange for nearly 2,000 Palestinian prisoners. The group added that the deal includes an end to the war in Gaza, the withdrawal of Israeli forces, the delivery of humanitarian aid, and a prisoner exchange.In further details revealed on Thursday, Trump claimed that the two-year Gaza war has “ended”, assuring that the hostages would be released on “Monday or Tuesday” as a part of the first phase of a newly signed Gaza ceasefire deal.
