Minister for Minor Irrigation and Science and Technology N.S. Boseraju inspected the ongoing airport project on the outskirts of Raichur (Yaramaras village) in Raichur district on Saturday.

The airport project is under way. He inspected the building of the flight terminal, electricity safety, the runway, and other works.

The Minister said that there is no dearth in grants for the completion of the project. The construction of the compound wall surrounding the airport areas is almost completed. The work on the construction of the runway and tower is under way. The land losers for the airport project were compensated with an alternate of five areas of land where they can build houses. Action was taken to acquire additional land for the project.

The airport is indispensable in Raichur district to extend aviation facilities to the general public, employees of RTPS, YTPS, universities and private companies and primarily for the pilgrims of Mantralayam, Mr. Boseraju said. He also said that the proposed Raichur airport will meet the demand, hoping for completion by next year’s Dasara festival.

Commissioner of City Corporation Jubin Mohapatra, Assistant Commissioner of Raichur Sub-Division Gajanan Bale, engineers of PWD and others were present.
