Kochi: Tourism Malaysia is set to embark on its largest-ever Sales Mission to India from February 3-7, 2025, covering Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Kochi. A delegation of 62 Malaysian sellers will focus on boosting Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) tourism, wedding tourism, and leisure travel, with a special emphasis on Southern India.

In 2024, Malaysia welcomed a record 1.1 million Indian tourists, with over 50% from the South. With 151 weekly flights and 26,686 seats per week, travel connectivity remains strong. Indigo Airlines’ recent additions of flights to Penang and Langkawi further enhance access.

Leading the mission, Tourism Malaysia Director General Datuk Manoharan Periasamy highlighted India’s importance, aiming for 1.6 million Indian visitors by 2026 under the Visit Malaysia Year 2026 initiative. Visa-free entry for Indian travellers until December 31, 2026, is expected to further drive tourism growth.

Tourism Malaysia Chennai Director Hishamuddin Mustafa emphasized Southern India’s key role, with 84 weekly flights and 12,395 seats per week. The Sales Mission aims to strengthen Malaysia’s presence and position it as a premier destination for MICE, weddings, and leisure travel.
