Two students drowned while taking bath in Vamanapuram River in the Kadakkavoor police station limits on Thursday (January 22, 2026) evening. The deceased have been identified as Nikhil, 15, and Gokul, 15.

According to the Kadakkavoor police, the teenagers, along with two other friends, had gone to take bath in the river near Udhiyarakkadavu. When the two of them lost control in the currents, their friends swam ashore and informed the local residents, who called the Fire and Rescue Services. 

Though the Fire and Rescue Service personnel managed to fish them out of the waters, they breathed their last at the Government Medical College Hospital here at around 8 p.m. The two were students of the Government High School Kudavoorkonam.
