The teaser of the much-awaited War 2 is finally here, but Reddit, for one, is not impressed! The teaser shows Hrithik Roshan and antagonist Jr NTR battling it out across continents in various settings and terrains, but it left Netizens with a feeling of déjà vu. They found the scenes very similar to the first film in the series, which had Tiger Shroff in Jr NTR’s place.

“Seems to be a role-swapped rehash of the first movie. This time, instead of being chased, Hrithik is the guy who chases, with sh***ier VFX,” was one of the caustic comments on Reddit. ‘Just rehashed War with bad CGI, ’ said a user. Another likened the trailer to a Mountain Dew ad!

Though the scale and presentation of the teaser did find some fans, they were in the minority. Many social media users felt that the songs, locations and action sequences featured in the teaser followed the by-now overworked template of war films. Some viewers were also unhappy with the footage given to both Jr NTR and Kiara Advani. War 1, part of the YRF Spy Universe, had Vani Kapoor as the female lead. War 2, directed by Ayan Mukerji, is the sixth in the sequence, and is scheduled to hit the screens in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil on August 14.
