NEW DELHI: The Indian cricket team management upheld their tradition of recognising the best fielder after their match against Pakistan in the 2025 Champions Trophy on Sunday in Dubai.
India comfortably won the match by six wickets, moving closer to securing a semi-final spot in the tournament.
After the game, T Dilip, India’s fielding coach, commended the players for their efforts on the field. He identified Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, and Shreyas Iyer as the three contenders for the Fielder of the Match award.

Dilip then invited former Indian opener Shikhar Dhawan, a member of the 2013 Champions Trophy-winning team and the tournament’s leading run-scorer, to announce the winner.
Dhawan declared Axar Patel as the recipient of the award and presented him with the medal.
“A big, big congratulations to the whole team, especially the bowling unit. Kuldeep Yadav took three wickets. And then coming down to the batting. Virat, well played. That’s what the experienced players do. Very well done. Shubman, great consistency. KL Rahul. Thank you for inviting me over here to give the medal to the special player who created the magic moment as we always talk about Axar Patel,” said Shikhar Dhawan.

Axar Patel had an impressive outing on the field against Pakistan, effecting two run-outs and taking one catch.
Virat Kohli delivered a batting masterclass with an unbeaten century as India dominated Pakistan in their ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Group A clash in Dubai. Chasing 242, India secured a six-wicket victory with ease. Pakistan, opting to bat first, struggled early but recovered through a 104-run partnership between Saud Shakeel (62) and Mohammad Rizwan (46).
However, India’s disciplined bowling attack, led by Kuldeep Yadav (3/40) and Hardik Pandya (2/31), restricted them to 241. Kohli’s flawless 100 not out, supported by Shubman Gill (46) and Shreyas Iyer (56), ensured India’s emphatic win, strengthening their semi-final prospects in the tournament.
The unbeaten Indian side will be in action next on March 2 when they play their final group match of the 2025 Champions Trophy against New Zealand in Dubai.
