Tripura witnessed widespread protests Wednesday over the Pahalgam terror attack, with Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha condemning the incident and expressing faith that the terrorists would get a befitting reply from India under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.

“We will not forget, we will not forgive the cowardly terror attack on innocent tourists in Pahalgam, Kashmir. I have full faith that under the leadership of Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi Ji & Hon’ble HM Shri Amit Shah Ji, the terrorists behind this barbaric act will get a befitting reply. We stand united,” CM Saha wrote on his social media handle.

Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee said, “We hope that the terrorists involved in the incident will surely get punishment with the initiative of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Our Home Minister Amit Shahji rushed to the spot. This will be a big achievement that we unitedly fight against terrorism.”

Different political parties and their affiliated wings organised protest rallies in various parts of the state.

Opposition parties, including CPI(M) and its youth wings, the DYFI and the TYF, and the Congress organised a candlelight rally and a silent rally to condemn the attack.

“We assembled here to condemn the terrorist attack and to express our condolences to the families of those killed in the incident. We hope that the Central government, the Jammu and Kashmir government and the people of Jammu and Kashmir will be successful in preventing terrorism. Ideologically, we are extending our support to the government’s initiative in the prevention of terrorism,” said CPI(M) secretary Jitendra Chaudhury.

“We believe that terrorism has no caste or religion. They are enemies of humanity and society. We urged all to hit the streets to protest against terrorism. We shall do a protest against terrorism, and on the other hand, we shall also raise our voice for employment for the youths in the state,” said a DYFI leader.
