Vijayawada: YSRC spokesperson Putta Shankar Reddy criticised the present Telugu Desam-led administration for rendering the Disha app ineffective. He condemned the government’s negligence towards rising crimes against women and accused it of turning a blind eye to such incidents.

Shankar Reddy highlighted the significant steps taken by the YSRC government under former chief minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, including the launch of the Disha app, which has been downloaded by over 1.5 crore users, offering immediate assistance to women in distress.

Shankar Reddy questioned the need for introducing a new Suraksha app when Disha, along with dedicated police stations and vehicles, already exist. He urged the government to utilise these resources effectively instead of resorting to duplicative efforts.
He also pointed out the contradiction of state home minister Vangalapudi Anitha, who had protested the launch of Disha app but is now promoting Suraksha.

He further said that 18 Telugu Desam and two Jana Sena MLAs are facing charges related to crimes against women, questioning how safety can be ensured under such leadership.
