Veteran cinematographer T N Krishnankutty dies

Alappuzha : Veteran cinematographer T N Krishnankutty, who worked on more than 70 films during his long career in Malayalam cinema, died here on Monday, industry sources said.

He was 96.

Krishnankutty began his career in 1960 by operating the camera for ‘Umma’, produced by Udaya and directed by Kunchacko.

He later worked as cinematographer for more than 70 films, including ‘Ladies Hostel’, the first film directed by veteran filmmaker Hariharan.

Krishnankutty worked with several well-known directors, including Thikkurissi Sukumaran Nair, M M Nesan, P J Antony, Sasikumar, A B Raj, Venu, K P Pillai and K Narayanan.

His last cinematography assignment was for ‘Madakkayathra’, directed by George Vettam in 1985.

Krishnankutty is survived by his wife and three children.
