Rear Admiral Abdullah bin Salem Al-Shahri, who has been appointed as the commander of the multinational maritime defense coalition, possesses over 32 years of military and leadership experience, during which he has held several leadership and operational positions. Notably, he served as the head of the planning, budgeting, and construction authority for the naval forces, director of the maritime supervision and follow-up office in the Kingdom of Spain, director of the Sarawat project for the construction of five combat ships for the naval forces, and secretary of the steering committee for the executive agreement between the Ministry of Defense and its Spanish counterpart. He has also participated in leading and planning several joint maritime operations, missions, and exercises, in addition to his expertise in command and control, operational planning, and multinational military cooperation.
Rear Admiral Abdullah Al-Shahri holds several specialized military and academic qualifications, including a master’s degree in defense and international security policies from Complutense University in Madrid, and a master’s degree in human resources management from the Naval Postgraduate School in the United States.
