أعلنت السعودية نجاح مبادرتها العالمية لتطوير تنظيمات إدارة النفايات الإلكترونية التي نفذتها بالشراكة مع الاتحاد الدولي للاتصالات في الباراغواي، ورواندا، وزامبيا
وتهدف المبادرة تعزيز مساعي المملكة في قيادة الجهود الدولية في الاستدامة الرقمية، وتسريع التحول نحو الممارسات الخضراء عبر تطبيق تنظيمات تعزز الاقتصاد الدائري، وتقديم حلول ابتكارية للحد من النفايات الإلكترونية من أجل الوصول لمستقبل رقمي مستدام، وذلك على هامش القمة العالمية لمجتمع المعلومات «WSIS» المقامة بمدينة جنيف، بمشاركة أكثر من 190 دولة.
وشملت مخرجات المبادرة تطوير ثلاثة أطر تنظيمية وطنية لإدارة الاقتصاد الدائري، إلى جانب إصدار دليل متخصص يوثق أفضل الممارسات والسياسات التنظيمية في إدارة النفايات الإلكترونية، وإعداد دراسات لتقدير تكاليفها وتحديد رسومها المحتملة على الأجهزة الإلكترونية في الدول المستفيدة، حيث شهدت المبادرة مشاركة أكثر من 270 جهة، ومشاركة أكثر من 480 مختصًا من القطاعين العام والخاص من مختلف دول العالم.
يُشار إلى أن المملكة منذ انضمامها إلى الاتحاد الدولي للاتصالات عام 1949، تسخر إمكانياتها وخبراتها البشرية كافة لدعم الاتحاد والمجتمع الدولي في رسم ملامح مستقبل القطاع عالميًا، وصياغة مستقبل رقمي شامل وذكي ومستدام، وقيادة الابتكار التنظيمي الرقمي، ودعم تبني الذكاء الاصطناعي والتقنيات الناشئة، وبناء القدرات البشرية ونقل المعرفة، والاقتصاد الدائري.
Saudi Arabia announced the success of its global initiative to develop regulations for the management of electronic waste, implemented in partnership with the International Telecommunication Union in Paraguay, Rwanda, and Zambia.
The initiative aims to enhance the Kingdom’s efforts in leading international endeavors in digital sustainability and to accelerate the transition towards green practices by applying regulations that promote the circular economy and provide innovative solutions to reduce electronic waste, in order to achieve a sustainable digital future. This was announced on the sidelines of the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) held in Geneva, with the participation of over 190 countries.
The outcomes of the initiative included the development of three national regulatory frameworks for managing the circular economy, in addition to the issuance of a specialized guide documenting best practices and regulatory policies in electronic waste management, and the preparation of studies to estimate costs and identify potential fees on electronic devices in the beneficiary countries. The initiative saw participation from over 270 entities and more than 480 specialists from the public and private sectors from various countries around the world.
It is worth noting that since its accession to the International Telecommunication Union in 1949, the Kingdom has harnessed all its capabilities and human expertise to support the Union and the international community in shaping the future of the sector globally, crafting an inclusive, smart, and sustainable digital future, leading digital regulatory innovation, supporting the adoption of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies, building human capacities, transferring knowledge, and promoting the circular economy.
