President warns escalation violates international law and undermines prospects for peace

Cairo: Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Yamahi, President of the Arab Parliament, has condemned the recent Iranian attacks targeting several Arab countries, describing them as a dangerous escalation and a violation of international law.

Speaking during the 39th session of the Arab Inter-Parliamentary Union Conference, held virtually under the chairmanship of Sheikh Dr Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Sheikh, Speaker of the Saudi Shura Council, Al Yamahi warned that the attacks pose a direct threat to the security, stability and sovereignty of the region.

He said the actions violate the United Nations Charter and the principles of good neighbourliness, adding that the repeated attacks reflect an aggressive approach that undermines efforts to achieve regional stability.

Call for unified Arab response

Al Yamahi reiterated the Arab Parliament’s rejection and condemnation of the attacks, emphasising that the security of Arab states is indivisible. He stated that any threat to one Arab country constitutes a threat to collective Arab national security.

He reaffirmed the Arab Parliament’s full support for member states in taking legitimate measures to protect their sovereignty and safeguard their security.

Focus on wider regional challenges

During his address, Al Yamahi also stressed that ongoing security challenges should not divert attention from the Palestinian cause.

He highlighted the situation in the Gaza Strip, the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem, calling for a firm international response to address ongoing violations and protect the rights of the Palestinian people.

The conference was held under the theme “Arab Parliamentary Vision for a More Stable and Sustainable Future.”
