Hyderabad: The ACB on Friday arrested K Ravi Kumar, GHMC Rajendranagar circle deputy commissioner for accepting Rs.2 lakh bribe from a hotel businessman to not seize his hotel.
The ACB said Ravi Kumar, city range-I unit deputy commissioner, had demanded a total of Rs. 5 lakh as bribe to not take action against the hotel. As an initial amount, he had accepted Rs.2 lakh.
The hotel owner complained to the ACB which lodged a case and mounted an operation.
The ACB seized the bribe money from the possession of Ravi Kumar, who tested positive in a chemical test. The accused officer was arrested and shifted to judicial remand.
Recently, the GHMC had raided the hotel in Rajendranagar and found hygiene issues with the kitchen. It served notices on the owner and warned that the hotel could be seized. Later, the accused officer started demanding bribes.
