Gopal Khemka, a well-known businessman and owner of Magadh Hospital, was shot dead late Friday night near his residence in the Gandhi Maidan area of Patna, police officials said. The killing comes nearly six years after his son, Gunjan Khemka, was murdered in a similar manner in Vaishali district.
Khemka was a prominent figure in Patna’s business community and was reportedly associated with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).
According to police, the shooting occurred around 11:40 pm near Ram Gulam Chowk as Khemka was getting out of his car near the Twin Tower residential complex, adjacent to Hotel Panache. He was shot at close range by unidentified assailants and taken to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.

City Superintendent of Police (Central), Diksha, said that a forensic team was called to the scene and recovered a bullet and a shell casing. “We received information that businessman Gopal Khemka had been shot dead in the south area of Gandhi Maidan. As soon as the information was received, police responded by reaching the hospital and then the crime scene,” she said.
“We are examining CCTV footage. It is suspected that the assailants came on a bike. We are further investigating the matter from all angles to find further details and motive,” Diksha added.
